Hi, I'm Miss Gibbs but please call me Ash! I am a Koori (First Nations) teacher and mum who is extremely passionate about creating educational spaces where all of our little ones know they belong and see themselves in the resources they use.
Where did it all begin...
Some of you may know this story, but for those who are new, I will share it with you now.
Many years ago, when I was still at university (doing my teaching degree), I was working as a Norta Norta Tutor on Dharug Country, at a Western Sydney High School, which I absolutely adored! After speaking with many of the teachers and the struggle they were having in finding genuine First Nations teaching resources to embed into their everyday teaching. I created a special website just for teachers that housed all of the First Nations teaching resources that I knew and loved, to help our teachers find genuine First Nations teaching resources that they could use in their classroom with their students to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures into their everyday teaching.
Over time, my original website has grown and changed into the website you see today. Sharing my MOST loved teaching resources for Australian classrooms and teachers and now also the world! It has been shared throughout schools all around Australia and universities too as a central place for teachers, and a beast of a teacher resource within itself. I am so proud to be able to continue to share resources with you and help you to select resources that celebrate First Nations histories, cultures and perspectives, Sustainability, kindness and wellbeing into your daily teaching and use personalised nonlinear learning to create meaningful teaching resources to create spaces where our students know they belong. All while getting creative and sharing my passion for teaching and design using Australia's one and only, Canva.
Thank you for your continued support, I know how precious your time is and I truly appreciate you choosing to spend it with me.
Happy embedding!
