Now to me, Billie and the Blue Bike is an absolute hidden gem! If you teach Year 2, Year 3 or Year 4, you absolutely need this book to be a part of your Number and Algebra Unit!

Bille and the Blue Bike is written and illustrated by Ambelin Kwaymullina, a descendent of the Palyku people of the eastern Pilbara region of Western Australia, and as always, Ambelin's , illustrations are just stunning. I particularly love how they make decoding the text so simple for our students.

But, Bille and the Blue Bike is not just another children's book...This is a financial literacy First Nations children's book!

Thats right!!!

First Nations perspectives ... TICK

Money ... TICK

Plus as you know, as always the incredible team over at Magabala Books have again created a FREE set of Magabala Books Teacher Notes complete with matching lesson ideas which are all completely linked to the Australian Curriculum, to make it as easy as possible for you to embed this amazing First Nations children's book into your Number and Algebra program.

I would like to acknowledge the Dharug people as the Traditional Owners of the beautiful land I am standing on today. From the mountains to the river, I open my heart and my eyes as I walk this land, listening, learning and caring for Country. I want to extend this respect to Elders; past, present and emerging and to all First Nations peoples reading this today. We are all remembered here.
